  1. Guess today is really tough on you Melanie – I looked to see if Mother’s Day is celebrated today in Australia and it is .. this is another beautiful poem. Did you get to see your Mum today or is she too far away from where you live?

    • Mother’s Day in England is in March, a few days after Frank passed away, so a doubly sad time. 😪
My mum is in a care home, less than ten minutes away, and we all went to see her this weekend….. even my brother who was over from Chicago.

      • Yes, it would be doubly sad to have the events the same time … what a nice treat for your mom to have your brother visit all the way from Chicago. (P.S. – I thought you lived in Australia – why did I think that? My apologies because I looked up Mothervs Day for Australia on purpose before making that comment.)

      • Ahhh, we did live in Australia for two years, and had an amazing time there. The boys loved it…. the wildlife, the beaches, the climate, the people. Such a great place.

      • OK, that’s why I got confused then, but now you live in England. I was in England with my parents in 1979 – we spent a week there. Stayed in a bed and board in Surbiton, Surrey and took day trips.

      • It was nice – we stayed in a bed and board that was run by a woman with the last name of Simpson. We were able to get taxis into London and did some tours in the city and then a few tours out of the city to Dover and somewhere else which escapes my mind right now. We were lucky that we were in England one week and no rain.

      • Yes, we were very lucky, and we were also fortunate that the day we were at Buckingham Palace they did the trooping of the color and there was a carriage coach on the street. No photo though as I had it in a purse and it happened kind of fast. Are you close enough to Windsor for all the ceremonies tomorrow … will you be watching? I know they will have highlights on the internet and will watch there but I did watch the weddings of Charles and Diana, and William and Kate live. There is a lot of coverage here since Meghan Markle is American.

      • We are over three hundred miles away from London, but watching on the television: always fascinated by the guests and their fashion choices, as well as the bride’s dress.
A fabulous day for a wedding and all the celebrations that went with it.
