Sunday 28th January
Dreary and damp
A drizzly day
Dank and dull
Skies in disarray
Dejected spirits
Despondent air
Depressing hues
A weight to bear
Dingy corners
Dismal light
Drab surroundings
In somber sight
Doleful echoes
In the quiet hush
A palette of shadows
With a muted brush
But I know
Just what to do
Lighting the fire
Spirits lifted anew
Love you so much
Treasured sons
Dearest Mum

Dreary and damp days are needed from time to time and as long as I don’t have to go out in bad weather I am fine with such days

I really don’t like going out in bad weather.
Much prefer the brighter, warmer days.

January is such a difficult month for most people who live in winter climates like you and like myself. But survivors have a way of finding that which keeps them going. You are definitely a survivor and so am I. I look forward to sunshine and spring, but I know in my heart that in the meantime, light can be found within, just like you mentioned in your poem.
