Remembering Frank

Standard
Wednesday 12th March

How can it be?
Ten years have passed
Since you were here
And breathed your last

Chemotherapy's toll
Finally took your life
Testicular cancer
Had spread so rife

So very much missed
No tomorrows for you
Your future dashed
So unexpectedly too

We miss you so much
Your smiles and laughter
Unfortunately for you
No happy ever after

It was going so well
But treatment was brutal
You took it in your stride
The whole kit and caboodle

Hickman line fitted
Etoposide, Cisplatin
Vincristine, transfusions
Bleomycin, Carboplatin

Three and a half months
Tolerating the pain
The sickness, the hair loss
The merciless strain

The tumours in lungs
And those in the brain
Were surely shrinking
Cancer cells were slain

But on that Thursday night
You left this world
Your pain all forgotten
As angel wings unfurled

Yet laughter echoes still
Smiles linger near
Though tomorrow faded
We hold you so dear

And then came that day
A sorrowful release
Wings lifted you gently
To infinite peace

We miss you dearly
Your presence, your light
In our hearts, you remain
Shining ever bright

No matter how long
As memories replay
It will always feel
Like yesterday

Darling Angel son
Now forever young
