A ring around the sun

Standard
Thursday 13th October

There's a ring around the sun
A twenty two degree halo
Perhaps a storm is on the way
Rain and wind, don't you know

Love you both so much
Treasured sons

A ring around the sun
Looking over the putting green towards Man’s Head
Low tide at Porthmeor Beach
Still a few people enjoying the beach
The Island
Wispy cirrus clouds
Water channels and ripples on the sand
Harbour slipway
Big clouds over the harbour

Fly

Standard
Wednesday 12th October

From the glistening drops of dew
To many sparkling stars on high
You exist within the cosmos
Using those Angel wings to fly

Love you both so much
Beloved sons

It’s a cloudy state of mind

Standard
Tuesday 11th October

It's a cloudy state of mind
Even though the sky's the limit
You're there beyond my dreams
I'll not forget that for a minute

Love you both so much
Beloved sons

Porthmeor Beach this afternoon
The Island beneath cloudy skies
Colourful swathes of rock, earth and vegetation
Kitty’s Corner
Swooping seagulls

Laughter

Standard
Monday 10th October

And then his laughter
Lit up the inky sky
Stars twinkled brighter
Knowing he was nearby
Such a gentle soul
My innocent child
My heart skipped a beat
Every time he smiled

Love you both so much
Precious sons

Stillness

Standard
Sunday 9th October

Trying to find stillness
From thoughts spinning around
So many 'What ifs?' and 'Buts..'
As if I'm being drowned
The waves above my head
Quelling the screaming sound
I'm being dragged under
Just want to feel the ground
Solid beneath my feet
From this I'll be unbound

Love you both so much
Treasured sons

Until you go

Standard
Saturday 8th October

Until you go
You'll never know
How you'll grow
Gently tiptoe
Chase the rainbow
In sunset's glow
So much to show
As warm winds blow
Palms to and fro
Find friends not foe

And even though.....
Yet even so.....

Love you both so much
Precious sons

Porthmeor surf
A good swell
Surf competition today
Swim between the red and yellows
Harbour reflections

Dance and fall

Standard
Friday 7th October

I can dance and fall
All in one sentence

I can laugh and cry
In one long breath

I can shout and whisper
All in a moment

I'll be brave then scared
In the same chapter

Carefree and troubled
All in a dream

Full of life, but dispirited
Encircling each day

Conscious yet expired
Throughout my body

Love you both so much
Precious sons

And after all’s said and done

Standard

And after all's said and done
Just a memory we'll become
Fill life with stories and fun
All spent with a special one

Love you both so much
My darling sons

Remembering Hank

Standard
Wednesday 5th October

Remembering Hank
A life full of adventures
4 February 1932 - 5 October 2009

Group Captain Ivan Raymond Martin
RAF, AFC and Bar

My father

Whilst Officer Commanding 43 Squadron at RAF Leuchars, Hank took HRH Prince Charles on a supersonic sortie in a Phantom F4.
1971
The flight included an air-to-air refuelling exercise with a Víctor tanker, taking on 1200 gallons of fuel. They flew as high as 40000 feet, and as low as 1000 feet, making a pass over Balmoral, (reported at the time as an 'extrovert flourish').

Off to Exeter

Standard
Thursday 4th October

And we're off to Exeter
To dermatology
Time to get a skin check
They're looking after me

And... All is good
Nothing to report
Keep wearing sunscreen
Skin cancer to thwart

Melanoma's no joke
For it's a sneaky beast
Just got to be vigilant
Don't want the risk increased

Love you both so much
Treasured sons
