Remembering Hank A life full of adventures 4 February 1932 - 5 October 2009
Group Captain Ivan Raymond Martin RAF, AFC and Bar
My father
Whilst Officer Commanding 43 Squadron at RAF Leuchars, Hank took HRH Prince Charles on a supersonic sortie in a Phantom F4. 1971 The flight included an air-to-air refuelling exercise with a Víctor tanker, taking on 1200 gallons of fuel. They flew as high as 40000 feet, and as low as 1000 feet, making a pass over Balmoral, (reported at the time as an 'extrovert flourish').
From across the deep ocean Dark clouds intensify Bringing a threat of rain Cascading from the sky
Love you both so much Treasured sons xxxxx
Dark clouds rolling along Much calmer on Porthmeor Beach this afternoon Sunny overhead, but dark on the horizon One of the Seal Island pleasure boats out on a trip A few people in the water Low tide in the harbour Quite sunny for the moment The clouds are creeping closer Will we arrive home before the rain starts?
Warm, autumnal sunshine Embracing those bare arms Faces turning skywards Perceptive to the charms Sunny days aren't promised So enjoy all that calms
Love you both so much Precious sons xxxxx
The harbour looking lovely this morning Porthmeor Beach Clodgy Point Lifeguards keeping watch A very sunny and warm harbour Beautiful blue skies Walking towards Porthminster Beach
Crisp, dancing leaves Careening across the ground Chased by the wind Making a whistling sound
Those whipped-up waves Cavorting up the beaches Covering sand Towards the farthest reaches
Cold, pinched faces With hair flying awry Out for a walk Mindful of the dark'ning sky
Love you both so much Precious sons xxxxx
A chilly and blustery Porthmeor Beach Going for a surf Fast moving clouds A choppy harbour Incoming tide Good breeze for kite surfing White horses Dark clouds and a little sun Harbour waves Becoming quite dark beyond the pier, but the sun lit up the catamaran
