Friday 25th April
As the summer term at school begins, I must come to terms with the fact that I am unemployed! For the first time in nineteen years!
I had to take ‘sick leave’ last May when my surgeries began: I was on full pay for six months, followed by six months of half pay. That has now finished. Arghhhh.
But all is not lost. The head teacher has been very understanding of my situation, and I return in September, albeit on a much reduced timetable, teaching only mathematics.
I could not end my teaching career with a sick-note. I love my job, enjoy being with the students, helping them to achieve their potential.
“I’ll be back”.

To follow you through your journey has been a learning curve, I am sure, for a lot of people. That can only be a positive thing to raise awareness. Through your very personal situation I think you must have helped to support individuals going through this or family members trying to support a loved one in understanding and coping with the disease. I have particularly enjoyed your quotes for the day. They have made me stop and think with each blog. It’s wonderful to see you at the end of your journey feeling so positive and enthusiasm about getting back to work. I know you’ve been an inspiration to others out there. ♥
