Friday 1st March
.
The day started bright
As we drove to the sea
Down the road to Swanage
For chocolate cake and tea
Then a wander round Corfe
Castle ruins to see
A steam train went by
Puffing quite slowly
.
Every step of the way
You came along too
My precious, sweet Angel
Always thinking of you
.
Darling Angel son

The view with breakfast, in Wareham
Corfe Castle at the top of the hill
Seen through the old stone archway
1000 years old…. A Saxon stronghold, a Norman fortress, a royal palace and a family home
Sixteenth century Bankes Arms Hotel
St Edwards Church
I love seeing old castles and ruins. And I’m sure the chocolate cake & tea was much loved that day ๐

memories of home………….. as a kid I slid down the hills at Corfe Castle ruining a new pair of trousers. Can’t do it now as it’s all fenced off.

A great memory.
The area has been taken over by the National Trust, with an entrance fee to walk up to the castle.

I was just at the coast here in Oregon. Your beach town looks a lot different than my little slice of the end of the world. So much history in your pics!

I have never been to Oregon…. My brother has and enjoys long walks along the sand… He sends me photographs.
The coast of Dorset has much history, and is known as the Jurassic Coast ~ a world heritage site, with such splendid scenery,
