Nothing is the same

Wednesday 18th November

“Our lives go on without you
But nothing is the same.”

………………

We are here, and you are there.
Nothing will ever be the same.
There is no longer an answer,
When I call out your name.

You are there, and we are here.
Nothing is as it was before.
There’s complete silence,
When I gently close the door.

We are here, and you are there.
Nothing is how we want it to be.
We’d rather you were with us,
But must accept you’re flying free.

You are there, and we are here.
Nothing is right anymore.
You’re not coming back
We know that’s for sure.

Our lives do go on without you,
We have absolutely no choice.
We are here, and you are there,
In your memories, we’ll rejoice.

Lovely boy.
Sweetie Pie.
Angel son.
Flying high.

  1. Some people tell us to move on. I never much cared for that idea. It leaves me with the visual of “Leaving my son behind” and that’s just not healthy for a grieving parent to do. Life continues but it does so much differently. We’ll never be the same person we were before the death of our child. So instead, I think we get back on our feet and take our loss with us. We celebrate the life, cherish their memory, and continue to grieve their absence. Grief is the cost of having shared life with someone worth loving. I embrace my occasion sadness and tears because that’s as close as I can get to my son these days. As time passes on we do get used to their absence but we never leave them behind.

    • Oh, how true are your words.
I will never leave my son behind, and will take him with me wherever I go from now on. I know what you mean, when you say you take your loss with you.
Many thanks for your thoughtful message.
      Take care x
